But really, that's stupid low miles for an XJ. 4.0L engine, 5-speed and 4WD is probably the best combo you could want. They're dead-simple to work on too. Expect low-to-mid 20s for highway MPG. They're great cars.

buy it!! I've only been working for the past one and a half-ish months so I only have ~$700 cash. Parents are willing to match whatever I make, but I'm still short :(
I have a weird attraction to the XJ. I like to think of it as the E36 of SUV's (can be had RWD, Inline 6, manual).

I'd love to but we're full up on cars at the moment ('49 Jeep, '02 BMW, '05 Pilot, '11 Insight). I've got a '49 Ford coming sometime in the near future as well.
If I were going to get an XJ it would need to be a 1990 or earlier with the 4.0L and manual, because I have a 4.6L stroker motor sitting at my parents house waiting for something to install it in.

This is literally exactly the XJ I want... Straight 6, 5 speed, 4x4, facelifted. It's almost impossible to find the facelifted ones with all the rest checked off, and I just don't like the interiors of the pre-facelift XJs.
Unfortunately when I read things like "ONE FEMAL OWNER" and "WILL SALE NOW", I turn the other way.

Haha yeah, this is a gem, but anyone who would keep their XJ in such good shape would at least know its an I6 and not a V6.

Not necessarily, could just be your average FEMAL OWNER.
Seriously though, doesn't always have to be the case. There's plenty of cars driven by elderly people which rarely get driven, are kept cleaned and serviced, and yet the owner has no idea what they've actually bought. You can care about your car as a posession (keeping it cleaned and maintained) without really caring about your car as a car.
Just think about all the leased BMWs and Mercs — they rent them for the status, and keep it clean to match the image — but could care less what all the letters and numbers on the back mean.

Doesn't everyone have a weird attraction to XJs? I just got one and absolutely love it. It's just so... perfect. Mine's not a manual, but I'd rather it be auto for winter and mud in 4wd. That manual AX15 transmission, though, is one of the absolute best ones you can get. Either way: if everyone has a weird attraction, doesn't that make it not weird?
I say people are weird if they don't like it!
